Sirius Taekwon-Do beginner courses in Espoo offer children a safe and inspiring environment where everyone gets to shine.
Through joy, we learn the basic techniques of the art and, at the same time, important life skills such as teamwork, goal setting, and respect for oneself and others.
The instructor is Veera Häyrynen, 6th Dan, a professional Taekwon-Do teacher with 20 years of coaching experience and the 2012 Taekwon-Do European Champion.
Sign up: The first two training sessions are free for first-timers. A fun and commitment-free way to see if a new hobby sparks interest!
Taekwon-Do beginner courses are held during the autumn season, but they can also be arranged in the spring as needed. The courses last from August to early December (or from January to early May, respectively).
For the first training sessions, it is good to wear comfortable sports clothes. Pants should have long legs. We train barefoot. Also, bring a water bottle labeled with your name to the training sessions.
The course fee includes a training suit and a white belt. The suits are ordered after the trial period and usually take a couple of weeks to arrive.
All Taekwon-Do practitioners must have a license from the Finnish ITF Taekwon-Do Association. The license costs 32 € and is valid for the calendar year. More information about licenses will be provided to course participants at the beginning of the course.
If you are looking for versatile children's hobbies in Espoo, you are in the right place. Sirius Taekwon-Do is a club specializing in children's and youth fitness, with about 130 little movers. With us, everyone trains from their own starting point and progresses at a pace that suits them.
The strong dual core of Taekwon-Do consists of martial techniques and the basic values of the art: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.
Even starting the hobby and actively participating in communal training has been seen to bring immediate positive effects to children's daily lives, from schoolwork to home life.
The first two sessions of the beginner course are free trial sessions that do not obligate you to continue the course or pay anything. However, each student must be registered for the beginner course in advance by registering in myClub.
If you decide to stop after the trial period, remember to inform the teacher by email well before the third session. If the registration is not canceled in writing by the given time, the course fee must be paid in full.
Parents can watch the training during the first two sessions. After this, we ask parents to wait outside the hall.
Register for the beginner course through the club's myClub service:
Guardians can stay to observe the training sessions during the first two sessions of the beginner course. After this, we kindly ask guardians to wait outside the hall so that the children can focus as best as possible on their training and instruction. If your child is afraid to stay alone in the hall, please discuss this with the teacher.
Please ensure that your child arrives on time for training. Make sure your child finds their way to the locker room and training hall. The Taekwon-Do uniform should be put on in the locker room, not at home. If the uniform is worn on the way, it can easily get dirty from just a few running steps. When picking up your child, ensure they have all their belongings with them.
Initially, suitable sports clothes (preferably long pants), clean bare feet, and a water bottle are sufficient equipment. Write your child's name on the water bottle to avoid confusion. During the beginner course, practitioners will receive a Taekwon-Do uniform and belt. Teach your child to take the uniform out of the training bag when they come home from practice. Keep the uniform clean and wash it regularly. The belt should not be washed.
Instruct your child to use the bathroom before the training begins. The goal is for practitioners not to have to leave the hall during training for bathroom needs. However, if the need arises, permission to use the bathroom will be granted. Practitioners should be able to manage bathroom visits independently.
There is no need to notify about individual absences. If your child is repeatedly absent from training, inform the teacher by email or text message.

If a practitioner wants to stop training, they should inform the teacher according to the etiquette of the sport. Training fees or parts of them will not be refunded, even if the training ends mid-season. If, for example, the practitioner moves to another locality and wants to continue training at another club, this should be reported to the teacher. According to Taekwon-Do protocol, the old and new club teachers will agree on the student's transfer to the new teacher.
